下院を通って，これから上院と大統領のサイン待ちということらしい．オレが働いていた頃も，川の下流の専門学校のランチセミナーに上院議員が来て，話すなんていうのはよくあったが，メールで感謝を伝えようなんていうのは初めてだ．生命関係の連中がDCで予算獲得に努力しているという話は聞いていたが，ここまでやってるとは（ま，倍増なんだから，これくらいはやってもよかろうという気もするが），，日本だと安全保障は別にして，せいぜいパブコメまでだが，keep the competitive globally in science and technologyもたいへんだ．

House Passes NSF Spending Bill
On July 26, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3093, the FY2008 Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations bill, which funds the National Science Foundation (NSF).ﾊ The bill would fund NSF at $6.43 billion for FY2008, a 10 percent increase over FY2007. In his 2006 State of the Union address, President Bush unveiled the American Competitiveness Initiative, a plan to keep the United States competitive globally in science and technology. As part of this plan, the NSF budget is slated for doubling over a 10-year span. This FY2008 appropriation would be a strong first step toward keeping America competitive globally in science and technology.
